June 2 - 4 - Del Monte Kennel Club Agility Trials at York School - 9501 York Road in Monterey. Weave through poles, climb a ladder, run through tunnels... That's just a sample of the off-lead skills these AKC-registered dogs demonstrate at these two-day trials. For more information go to www.dmkc.org

June 3 & 4 - Castroville Artichoke Festival now at the Monterey County Fair Grounds. Have some fun sampling artichokes with musical entertainment, arts and crafts. Admission: $15 adults, $5 children 6-12, children under 5 are free. (831) 633-2465 www.artichokefestival.org

June 11 - Mission San Antonio Fiesta. Head to Monterey’s South County and Fort Hunter Liggett (near San Antonio Lake) to attend the Fiesta Mass at this historic mission. It is a fun filled day for all beginning with a special Fiesta Mass at 11 a.m. ending with a procession from the church to the Fiesta grounds, signaling the beginning of the festivities that go until 4 p.m. A traditional oak-fired barbeque offers you a choice of half-chicken or tri-tip beef dinner. Dance to music provided by a lively variety of local bands. Purchase a homemade dessert, enjoy a glass of beer or wine, visit with local artisans and join in the fun of games for kids. June 18 - Annual Run in the Name of Love - A Carmel-by-the-Sea Coastal Run. Start time: 8:25 a.m. - End time: 10 a.m. Father's Day 5K Run & 2K Walk! Run along beautiful Carmel-by-the-Sea Beach & coastline. For more information http://run4love.org/


June 24 - Junior Giants Health Fair
from 10a.m. to 1p.m. at the Teen Center Lot, 304 Hillcrest Avenue in Marina. Free exercise classes, cooking workshop, fun games and activities to allow kid's to explore through creativity. Junior Giants is a free, non-competive, coed baseball league sponsored by the San Francisco Giants. In addition to teaching the fundamentals of baseball, we provide programs regarding health, education, bullying prevention, and character development. June - SummerFest Arts and Crafts Fair at Custom House Plaza in Monterey. This annual favorite fills Custom House Plaza with beautiful art, handsomely made crafts, and live entertainment for the family. Arts and Crafts Fair featuring local entertainment and is a fundraiser for Pacific Repertory Theater. For more information on Pac Rep visit www.pacrep.org

July 1 - Old Monterey Foundation to hold “Picnic in the Park at Lower Presidio Historic Park” from 11a.m. to 3p.m. Kick off your 4th of July holiday weekend fun at this free family-friendly event! Bring your friends and family to this “FUNdraiser” and enjoy great food, live entertainment, historic reenactments, walking tours, costume contests, scavenger hunt, prizes and much more. Enjoy spectacular views of the beautiful Monterey Bay, Old Fisherman’s Wharf and the Monterey Harbor at this park that is hidden in plain view. See the “before”, which is now and what we envision the “after” to be! Old Monterey Foundation is raising funds to develop trails and interpretive sign for all the monuments to enhance and restore this park which is considered “The Most Historically Significant Site on the West Coast”.
